GPS Tracking
What is GPS Vehicle Tracking?
This is an electronic device placed inside the vehicle (car, van or lorry) and which can then be monitored by an individual or fleet management either from a separate location by downloading special software on to a PC or logging onto a designated server.
Tracking devices are used most commonly by companies with a fleet of vehicles (couriers, delivery companies, taxi firms) for the purpose of increasing the productivity and efficiency of the company’s workforce.
The kinds of things that can be monitored are:
- the speed the vehicle is traveling at
- how far it has travelled
- where exactly it is etc
All these things can be accurately recorded in real time at any given moment 24 hours a day. Large companies that employ fleets of over 20 vehicles or so can increase their overall productivity, on average, by about 40 per cent.
Advantages
The most obvious advantage to vehicle tracking with GPS for a business is the savings in fuel and wage costs that it allows, as these are two of the biggest expenditures for any company reliant on a fleet of drivers.
Also things like speeding and leaving the engine running while stationary all contribute to fuel wastage and can be monitored effectively.
With our system, there are even controls that allow you to remotely lock or unlock the doors of your company vehicle if you suspect anything untoward is happening.
Customer relations can also be improved because you are able to inform clients of any delays in drivers reaching their destinations promptly, you can also give your clients more accurate ETAs as well as you know exactly where they are at all times.
